Admitted but no scholarship?

^^ GREAT news, bluefish!! Congrats! (And you are in a better postition that the T/P candidates: they still have to interview, while you have already been AWARDED the scholarship!)

Thanks alamemom! My only complaint is that my brother was awarded the Trustee when he applied a couple years ago, but that’s merely a sibling rivalry thing, hahaha.
Of course, I have in reality overlooked that, and I’m really excited, and feel very honored! I wish you all the same luck!!

is everyone who applied by December 1 but is NOT receiving a scholarship getting a letter that tells them so?

My friend and I both applied by Dec. 1. He got a letter saying he was not receiving either the Presidential or Trustee scholarship but to keep a look out for his decision around march/april.
I have received nothing yet. If I didn’t get a scholarship either should I expect that letter too?? I feel like I’ve been left hanging!!

Dean’s scholarship notification came out already? I emailed USC when I received the acceptance packet [without any scholarship information] and they said that I was being considered for the Dean’s scholarship, so now I am worried.

@bluefish, are you in the SoCal area?

On another note, I received a letter today informing me hat I am invited to interview for the Bacc/MD program!

I live in New York and I received a letter today stating that I did not get the Presidential/Trustee Scholarship; But no admissions package either.

dorktastic: I’m in Maryland… I wouldn’t worry too much, who knows how this all works! And congrats on the Bacc/MD interview!

My daughter rec’d her Dean’s Scholarship letter in the mail today (1/31). She rec’d the acceptance packet last Friday (1/28). Both were postmarked one day prior. We live in Los Angeles.

Are all deans scholarships 1/4 tuition for 8 semesters?

SDMom,
Yes, on the Dean’s Scholarship. For the Dean’s Scholarship no interview is necessary. It is for all four years, providing the student maintains a certain GPA and takes 16 units per semester. This is an honor. Only 121 of those were awarded last year.

Dear students,

Over 22,000 highly qualified students applied early for the merit scholarships. This is a record number. That is not a misprint…22,000. As much as USC would wish, there are not funds to give all of you a Trustee or Presidential Scholarship. If you were on the selection committee how would you select under a thousand out of 22,000+?

My guess is those students who have been selected early is because USC wants you in their class! You have been admitted! Your application stood out from 22,000. Unfortunately, there are not enough Trustee Scholarships for all of you. The university notified you in January, which has not been done before as I recall.

Some of you are now being awarded Dean’s Scholarships. There are still Associates, Leadership, ethnic, Town & Gown and others.

My guess is about 30,000 applicants will receive a letter of regret in late March or on April 1. Add to that the transfer students who will not be admitted.

On April 2nd students post on the board they have been denied. SC is one of the top 10 “Dream” schools. These students would be overjoyed to have that precious packet. Many of these posts are sad to read.

I got my acceptance letter on Sunday and today I got a letter notifying me that I was awarded a Dean’s scholarship. So those of you who got an acceptance and no Presidential/Trustee, you may have another letter coming!

This is so grreat. I also got my letter of acceptance on Saturday and a letter today awarding the Dean’s scholarship. I also signed up for my housing choices today. One of the threads said they give out housing based on when you signed up.

Congratulations varucas and LitGuy!

I too got my Dean’s letter today and acceptance on Sunday.

i applied by the december 1st deadline and only received the letter that said “you didn’t receive the p/t scholarships”. i’m worried… :(

also, is it required to send in mid-year transcripts?

What kinds of GPA’S and ACT’s for those of you receiving Dean’s Schols…did you have?

33 act 3.94 uw gpa

3.92/4.45 GPA / 33 ACT (but with a 35 E & 35 M) / 1500/2230 SAT
stoked to have gotten the deans’ scholarship!

Ahhhh! I got accepted and invited to interview for the Bacc/MD program, but haven’t received any letter telling me whether or not I got Dean’s… Do they tell you if you didn’t get anything? Does the delay have anything to do with the Bacc/MD Program?

Lucky Charms - Letters have been mailed asking applicants for mid-year grades. I guess don’t send them in if you didn’t get asked too. Unless they are awesome, of course.
