Hey, I was just admitted as a transfer student to the college of Arts and Sciences, I was just wondering if anyone who goes there knows how easy it is for transfers to adjust socially? I'm kinda totally in the dark as far as how transferring goes.

AFAIK, they adjust just fine - just join clubs/sports/greek/whatever floats your boat & you’ll meet plenty of people.
I had a handful of friends that were transfers, some of whom I didn’t know were transfers until years later.

Also knew most of the engineering dual degree students (who come to washu for their 4th & then 5th year of college) and they all seem to blend smoothly in.

For what its worth, I made friends all the way up until graduation - making friends and meeting people is not, and should not, be limited to the freshman floor experience.

Sammy- mind sharing your stats and where you are transferring from and why? Did you get into washU originally and turn it down?

Thank Johnson. Been a bit nervous, but I submitted my deposit yesterday! So I’m ready to make the best of it. I

2cent4u, I was rejected last year. I have a 1970 SAT, and had about a 3.6 unweighted GPA in high school. Softball team, and president and founder of the political club. Decided on Union College in Schenectady, NY. They gave me a bunch of scholarship money, and they have a great psych program which is what I wanted to study. Through taking hebrew and other middle east based classes at Union, I realized I didn’t want to study psych, but rather Middle East/Israeli studies, and maybe minor in marketing. Union, being a true liberal arts school has very broad, very limited majors. So I applied to 6 schools, not at all expecting to get into WASH U. Union is on trimesters and for my first trimester I ended up with a 3.78 GPA. On my mid-year report, all of my current professors reported me as having solid A’s. (We don’t get the official second trimester grades for another 2 weeks) I’d say my essay was strong, and WASHU has a lot of the extra curriculars that I’ve come to enjoy at Union, so I guess they saw me as a real match, who has real commitment to the school being that I applied last year.
