I know this is sorta after the fact on both fronts but I'm feening for more college info. Did anyone go to either of these events and want to share their experiences. I wasn't able to go to either and I'm interested in hearing about it.

Not sure what you’d like to know. That day we had thousands of prospective students visiting, it was great. It was kind of nostalgic seeing students and their parents at te bookstore buying all the UMD gear, just as I did when I was about to make the final decision. All the tour guides ready, pumped to show off their school with pride. It was nice to see so much red, yellow and black gear all over the school. Weather was just Ok, but the energy was there. I hope you signed for UMD.

I was kind of disappointed to not get an email about this…as a newly admitted student would have been cool to know about it before it happened. I would have gone!

I am surprise you were not informed, since everyone I know got a notification about it. maybe it never made it to your mailbox.

Jensgt - Aren’t you a transfer student?

Read #2:

[Office of Undergraduate Admissions · University of Maryland » Admitted Transfer Students](http://www.admissions.umd.edu/admitted/AdmittedTransferStudents.php)

Yeah the same for me. My friend made me aware of it the week of the first one, but by that point that one was full and I couldn’t miss school for the next one.

But yeah I just want to hear about the experiences. I mean I’ve been to the campus for Marquee Day and the Fischell Festival with my dual enrollment class, as well as a tour in middle school and a summer program. But like I’ve never seen a typical dorm (My brother was in Civicus so he lived in Somerset) or a class in progress. Plus each unique experience is telling and it’d be nice if anyone who did or knows something interesting would share a bit about it.

Needless to say I’m pumped for orientation. (BTW I am going to UMD)

Well damn. I guess I missed that. Plan a visit I thought was orientation and mine is June 5. Still…an email would have been nice and I did not get one.

No one got an email. The info was on the “congratulations” page. You could have signed up for 1 of 4 dates.

Tranmu, there were 4 open houses.

The fact remains that I was made aware of it during my spring break when I could have gone but was unable to because it was fully booked. The two previous ones wouldn’t have been of much use because I was likely in school for those. Semantics aside, that wasn’t my original point in making this thread lol.

FYI, there is a great resource to find out what events are going on around campus
[Free Stuff at Maryland, The University of Maryland](http://www.freestuff.umd.edu/events.cfm)

Obviously, there isn’t much going on now since the last day of class is tomorrow, however, if you change the month, you will see that there are a lot of things going on around campus.

Get in the habit of checking this calendar at least once a month to see if there is anything coming up that interests you, so that you can plan to attend.

In addition to this, many colleges/departments/majors maintain their own calender of events that are specific for those majors. For example:
A. James Clark School of Engineering … [A. James Clark School of Engineering, University of Maryland](<a href=“Events | A. James Clark School of Engineering, University of Maryland”>Events | A. James Clark School of Engineering, University of Maryland)
Robert H. Smith School of Business…[Robert H. Smith School of Business - University of Maryland, College Park/url
Philip Merill College of Journalism…[url=http://www.merrill.umd.edu/events]Upcoming at Merrill | Philip Merrill College of Journalism](http://www.rhsmith.umd.edu/news/calendar.aspx)
Dept. of Psychology…[UMD Psychology :: Events Calendar](http://psychology.umd.edu/about-us/events.cfm)
Computer Science…[CS Department - May 2013](http://www.cs.umd.edu/webcal/online/month.php)
Music…[Upcoming Events | School of Music](CALENDAR | School of Music)

Obviously, this is not an exhaustive list, so just explore your major’s home page and search for a calendar of events. Note that different departments use different formats for their list of events. Sometimes you have to click on a link for news to get to the link for upcoming events.

Hope this helps.
