Does anyone know when these will be. The link they gave us just goes to a page that says there will be some, but I'm trying to coordinate multiple visits over February break, so knowing when would be good.

The admitted student dates for EA will be early (February) with different dates for each of the schools.

I wish they’d publish them already… I know there is lots of time between now and February, but other schools have invitations that need to be accepted promptly, and some have multiple dates we could choose from.

Check admitted students events
Feb 8th and 9th

Where are you finding those dates, marymac?

At [Events Admitted Students | Admissions](http://www.northeastern.edu/admissions/admittedstudents/events/) it just says “Congratulations on your admission to Northeastern University. We offer special visit options for admitted students to help you learn more about the University. Each option is a great way for you to observe campus life, to talk with staff and students and to get all of your questions answered.”

Go to the link where you first saw your acceptance (where you could access the acceptance letter, financial aid, etc.).
Then click on Admitted Students Website (left hand side, under decision documents)
Then click on Calendar of Events (Bottom of that screen)

When the calendar comes up, go to February. You will see the 2 (only 2 that I saw) accepted students dates, based on areas of study.

HSG

aha, thank you!

You are welcome. And if you see more dates than those two, or hear of more, please post. That weekend is less than ideal for us.

Scholars have their own full weekend.
Honor’s program, I think, has sessions within the Feb. dates.

HSG

It is less than ideal for us as well – we may just do a regular “Engineering Wednesday” during his February break.

The admitted student day at Northeastern is very well done and I would highly recommend going if you can - they do tailor programs to the different schools (The one for my daughter’s school was not very convenient but when I asked they said to try and make that one so we did - after attending I understood why)

Thanks, kiddie, that’s helpful to know.

What happens on these admitted student days? I am trying to figure out if its worth to spend the money/make the effort/skip school ect.

Julia, have you already decided where you’ll be attending? If so you can almost certainly skip the admitted student days. But if you’re trying to decide, you can get more information to inform your decision. If you get some time off in February or March, chances are one of the dates would work with your school schedule so you wouldn’t have to skip school at least.

You have to take special admissions events with a grain of salt in terms of letting them influence your decision, however. Keep in mind that they are putting on a show for you, and what you see won’t be a realistic representation of what it is like there on a regular day.

Many students have reported that at Admitted Student days there is a heavy emphasis on experiential learning, especially coop. With Northeastern’s increased popularity the university wants to make prospective students aware the NU is not a traditional school. Some students have been turned off by this which may indicate that Northeastern would not be a good fit for them.

Last year a poster here on CC asked if doing coop would help her get a good summer internship. Clearly this student did not understand what coop etc. was all about.

@Julia…: In another thread you ask about Northeastern’s “campus vibe”. If you attend an Admitted Students day you can talk to current students about this and get first hand information. I would recommend attending one of these days if at all possible.

Sometimes I think that if you want to get a feel for a school’s “campus vibe” you are better off visiting on a regular weekday, attending a class, eating in a cafeteria, visiting the student center, etc. When the accepted student days are on weekend days, you may find that all the students are asleep Of course, if you want to know what the weekend vibe is, visiting on a weekend works.

The admitted student weekends are structured very similarly to the open houses in the fall - there’s general talks and then splits into specific academic sessions. Key differences between the admitted weekends and the open houses are that the school will probably put a greater emphasis on the academic programs of your specific major and on the co-op program.
I never attended an admitted weekend being that I am originally from CA but I have helped run a few admitted students sessions last year (and will do so again this year).
Either way these weekends are just a packed affair with info sessions after info sessions but it doesn’t seem like a bad affair from what I have observed. If you’re looking to get more info/on the fence about accepting the offer, attend the weekend. If you’re fairly sure you’re going to accept the offer and want a more general relaxed view of campus, a regular tour should suffice as well.

Thank you everyone for the very helpful advice!
