We are on the West Coast and would like to visit campus on the Gold Carpet days (April 14-16). We are thinking of being there for one day, April 15, when most of sessions are happening. Gold Carpet day events seem to be pretty comprehensive, expect there doesn’t seem to guided campus tour. Does anyone know if some kind of campus tour (visit to the dorms etc) will available? Also, no event schedules are posted for Thurs (April 14) and Saturday (April 16). Does any of EA admits have more info - looks like Tech has already sent the invite to EA applicants and plan to send the invite to RD admits early next week. My son was admitted today as part of the RD round and we don’t have this info.
Thanks!
My son was accepted EA , and it seems to me that they also sent something about campus tours on these days, you sign up for a specific time. The admissions office can help you for sure. The tours do show you a dorm room on East Campus. Georgia Tech dorms should be researched, all dorms that have the freshman experience have community bathrooms and are located on east or west campus. Views vary on which side is best. Some, have been updated more recently than others, so check for that also. The dorms have small rooms, a few have elevators, a few allow you to control heat/AC in the room while the others are controlled as an entire building, and some have laundry in the building. They are OK but not Not Georgia Tech’s best selling point.
Thanks for the info, especially about the dorms.
The campus tour we went on last year during Gold Carpet days was on East campus and included a dorm room tour. Some of the dorms have workout spaces or laundry in the building which are nice perks. You can see photos of actual dorm rooms and room layouts on the housing web page.
We are also OOS and found East campus is really convenient when visiting. There are 3-4 hotels including GT hotel nearby in the Tech Square which is about a 10 minute walk from East dorms. The public transportation from the airport is really efficient and convenient to use. Tech Square is where the GT bookstore, Starbucks and a few fast food restaurants are located. Publix supermarket is about a block from Tech Square.
