Admitted Students Days: Arriving Late and Travel Grant

I was accepted to Stanford (yay!) and want to attend the admitted students days. I have two questions on that front-- it would be great if someone could address one or both of them.

  1. I’m planning to go to Brown’s admit days as well-- which overlap with Stanford’s by just one day. I haven’t decided if I want to do the hassle of going from Providence to California in one night (Thurs–>Fri) but would it be possible to participate in the events at Stanford from the second day? Also, anyone else in the same boat with Stanford and Brown? (and yes, I know how different they are)

  2. Re: Travel grants, I know there’s been a lot of questions about them up on cc in the past two days, but does anyone have any info on around when they would email/send a travel grant, if any? I have other admitted students events and so would like to tell teachers and such when I will be missing class as soon as I can-- but don’t know if I can go (I’m east coast) without the grant.

Thanks!

If you qualify for a certain amount of FA, you may get a grant.

As far as missing part if the weekend, do whatever works best for you. If you step into Admit Weekend partway through, you may not feel a part of things as much as you would if you were there all weekend. They do have at least one “outside” weekend earlier in April for students who can’t make the actual admit weekend. There won’t be the same level of excitement, but there will be other prospies there.

Thanks for the answer, @pacnwmomof2‌. Any idea on what that “certain amount” would be? I’m getting a lot of fa-- my net price is ~6k.

That’s true-- that’s what I may end up doing.

I think some of it depends on how much it would cost you to get to Stanford, but I’m really not sure. My d’s amount last year was just about the price of an airline ticket. I really don’t know what their policies are. I’m just basing it on our experience last year.
