Has anyone else gotten this e-mail from Cornell? I started to fill it out and found that many of the questions are highly personal...much more so than in surveys I've done for other schools. Maybe I'm just paranoid, but this survey is legit and anonymous, right? o_O

What sort of personal questions?

Things like SAT scores; family income; every other college I applied to and whether or not I was accepted; the exact amounts of aid I received in work study, grants, loans, etc…

Some parts were “normal” in terms of rating different aspects of Cornell, though.

I was looking over the survey, and I didn’t find anything they were asking for to be extremely personal. What are they going to do with how much money your family makes? So they know you got rejected from Harvard U. Big deal.

But, of course, you should always be suspicious of things like these.

lol. I guess I was just a little surprised because I’ve taken admitted students surveys for other schools, and all they asked was to rate them on how well they presented their institution. And I’m generally a paranoid person when it comes to the kind of info that Cornell was looking for :P

yeah, i got half-way through filling it out and saw all the income questions. so i didn’t finish the survey. the admissions office has all this stuff if they really want it
