Did you get any of those?

This friend of mine did. The letter was dated Feb1 and it said he'll officially be informed on mar28!

It’s called a Likely Letter. There are many posts about it on this site and other Ivy schools’ sites.

As to your question

100 out of 30K applications. I’m sure a few here on CC will chime in. But they’re as rare as hen’s teeth. Congrats to those lucky 100.

I got one, don’t really understand why, so my advice is don’t worry about it!

Those kids are amazing. :O

Any idea when Harvard will stop issuing them?

Officially, the window of LL issuance is Oct 1st to March 15th for the Ivies. What H or any other school will actually do is only speculation.

Again: no one with half a brain should be pining away for one of these. They literally are the golden ticket to the Wonka plant. If you get one, great. NO ONE (besides the athletes already informed of such) should be expecting one.

Gah.
That is an amazing feat nonetheless. Congrats @nickb :)

They come to recruited athletes, internationals (often who need to inform universities in their home communities before the official release date) and a selected few for reasons which are difficult to discern. Congrats to those who have heard. No worries to those who have not.
