Admitted Uchicago transfer 2012

I was wondering how is the college and the student body when it comes to dealing with transfer students. Is everyone welcoming? and typically what dorms are best for transfer students and finding new friends? Im brand-new to Chicago from Arizona so i don't really know much about the neighborhood uchicago is in.

When my wife transfered to U of C a few years ago, she spent her third year in Blackstone House which is about a ten minute walk from the Reg and other main buildings. And it is a cold walk in winter. But rooms in Blackstone are arranged a little bit like an aparment with seperate bedrooms. Nice lobby. Shops and food are not far. She had no problems meeting friends. In her last year she ended up getting an apartment with two of her friends on Kimbark, a few minutes closer to the quads than Blackstone. Many of the schools and the Reg have late night “cafes” These are good places to meet people. Hyde Park is a cool area, but it is a bit of an island. Good Luck!

Anyone else?

I go to a school near uchicago. Hyde park is nice but not close to downtown. Chicago is an amazing city, but im moving soon ;)

@cardova: Cool your going to penn right? Which other schools did you get accepted to as a transfer?
