Are students required to attend the programming for the entire weekend to participate in the competition? My son attended one of the campus visit days last summer, and it sounds like some of the events on Friday (residence hall tour, academic presentations) are the same. Before planning to travel to MSU on Thursday to be there Friday morning, I want to make sure this is necessary - thoughts?
I don’t know the answer, but Ive heard that the test on Saturday is not the only consideration in awarding scholarships. I thing showing interest would count.
My son talked to the admissions office. The other events aren’t required to participate in the scholarship competition.
shanegang - MSU has a lot of merit scholarships, but the ADS one is a specific scholarship where students are invited to participate in a competition that awards scholarships. MSU invites their top 1,500 applicants, and they award 130 scholarships based on the competition results. The scholarships range from full tuition & board and stipend to 1,500 a year.
