Does anyone how hard the Advanced Math Placement Test (MPT-A) is? How many questions do you have to get right (out of 45) in order to get a 152?

Well online it said we need 21 out of 30 to place into calculus I thought?

Oh, for real? Aren’t there 45 quetions though?

It says 30 questions online:

“The Advanced Math Placement Test (MPT-A) places students into calculus. It consists of 30 five-alternative multiple-choice items and is intended for students who have taken at least three or four years of high school math, including a precalculus, calculus, and/or math analysis course.”

Now, to answer OP’s question: I don’t think we can really tell, without knowing which version test you’ll be getting. I don’t think it says about how many problems you can miss… if anyone knows (or has taken this exam and knows how they did) that would be helpful!

“Scaled scores also enable direct comparison of test scores across versions. For example, a scale score of 155 on the MPT-G, version 10 will reflect the same level of performance as a scale score of 155 on the MPT-G, version 9. The statewide college readiness cut score on the General Math Placement Test (MPT-G) has been set to 150, regardless of version.”

I took this last year and i think you needed 20/30, not 21, although I could be wrong. Its extremely easy though, it didn’t require anything beyond 9th or 10th grade math. If you pass, it doesn’t say whether or not you will do well in the calc series, but if you fail, you definitely need to brush up on your math before taking 124/125/126. Its multiple choice and there’s only three choices per question

Thank you so much guys. Yeah, I looked at the practice test online and it doesn’t seem that bad…especially if you only need to get 20 problems right to place into calculus.
