What are the advantages of applying prority deadline? Other than the scholarship stuff?

From what I've seen a lot of people still get their response in the Spring, despite whichever deadline. Please help! Thanks. :)

What’s the scholarship stuff? Is that automatic or is it a different application?

Actually the sooner you apply the sooner you know if you have been accepted or denied. Many people on CC have already been accepted. Personally I applied on November 23rd and am expecting a decision any day now because my status at MyUW reads, “We have received all materials required to review your application. Your application will remain in this status until decisions are finalized. We will inform you by postal mail when a decision is made.” Though UW does say most of their decisions are mailed in the spring, I don’t know…

The scholarship stuff is just that if you listed a major then, if there are scholarships that are suitable for you, then they let you know about it so you can apply.

I turned mine in on Dec. 1. So, maybe in a few more weeks I’ll get my decision?

I’m not sure what their process is. I submitted mine the end of October and received an admission decision last week. My status changed to “Your application has been reviewed. We will notify you by postal mail when a decision is made.” or something like that - I got the letter a few days after. I know that a small percentage gets accepted in December, but most get it in March.

Oh, thanks! I guess, I’ll be expecting mine in March.

The only advantage of applying prior to Dec. 1 is scholarship eligibility (a VERY small amount in state-negligible for OOS), honors, and to perhaps have your app. read before the admissions committee gets hit with thousands of other apps.
Notifications of admission are completely and totally unpredictable. They begin in Dec. and go through April. There is NO correlation between the time you submit your app., and when you are notified (thus, can’t call it rolling admissions-since that implies a fairly guaranteed turn around time). A VERY small percentage of kids find out right away (Dec.). They are usually shoo-in types. The vast majority of qualified candidates find out in a trickle between Jan and March, with most (guessing-75%) finding out in March or early April. Do yourself a favor, and don’t make yourself crazy. The best strategy is plan on waiting til Spring - then anything before that is a great surprise! Good luck.
