<p>I know that UCB is pretty much good at all majors, but does anyone know how well ranked Advertising or Public Relations would be?</p>

<p>That’s what I want to go into too, and no there’s not an advertising major. I think I’m just going to end up doing Media Studies.</p>
<p>berkeley doesn’t have a “marketing” or “public relations” major. Media Studies is like communications so i guess that’s like Marketing/PR. Other than that, I believe anything business-y falls under Business Administration.</p>
<p>You can go into advertising/PR without majoring in such. BA106 and BA161 are the classes you want to look at. I took both of them while majoring in Industrial Engineering and really enjoyed them.</p>
<p>There’s no real concentration in Advertising in terms of majors at Berkeley. Marketing is close to it, but Business Administration has more well-rounded coursework and requires you to take core classes in accounting, economics, finance, etc. There is Media Studies, but it’s more of a study in theories, not practice. The work in this major is mostly discussing what theorists have said and applying it to media. Plus, the major has no respect compared to Business. Look to another school if you really want to do advertising, or you can try your chances at Business. The major has more prestige, but so far from my experience with it and an interest in marketing, opportunities are not as good as consulting, banking, and accounting.</p>

<p>do you know if its similar to industrial design? Is UC Berkeley’s industrial design major (if tehy even have something to it… couldnt find it on collegeboard) good?</p>
<p>I had an interest in industrial engineering before, but realized I mainly liked the design aspect of it because I suck a math…</p>
