Hey guys. This is mainly for the incoming freshmen...

Around this time of year last year I was debating about buying or renting a fridge. I ended up buying mine and honestly, it was one of the best decisions I made. I got an awesome Kenmore fridge (small but not the mini-mini one, it's 4.9 cubic feet which is one of the biggest of the smaller ones, if that makes any sense); it's extremely compact on the outside but fits tons of stuff.

And even though microwaves are against dorm rules (but honestly, everybody breaks this one; just cover it up with something during the "dorm inspection which happens the first or second week of school, which some RAs don't even do--mine did), I put a microwave on top of it and voila! I had my own microfridge that I own for the price of an old, gross one from Tufts that I would have to return (plus, they don't arrive until a few weeks into the first semester and are picked up a few weeks before the end of the second semester, which was annoying for those of my friends who decided to rent). By the way, just a tip about the microwave--microwaves have different settings. They're not allowed (I believe) because Tufts is worried that the circuits in the outlets will be overwhelmed if a ton of people use power-sucking things like microwaves all at once. So change your maximum energy use to something a little lower than the maximum possible just to be safe and you'll definitely be fine.

So anyway here's my shameless plug: I'm actually moving off-campus this year so if anyone is interested in buying my fridge (which I basically used for a total of about 6 months, since I didn't get it until the end of September), I can give you more info about it. I got it at Sears--here's the link:

It's a stainless steel w/ black Kenmore Elite 4.9 cu. ft. compact refrigerator. It is less than a year old and very clean (I washed both its interior and exterior); it looks brand new. It includes a freezer, a can holder and extra space on the door. It was really perfect for our dorm because it's small but roomy. It is also not very heavy and will fit in the backseat of any car for easy pick-up (well, my apartment is across the street from campus so that's not really a big deal, I can find a way to get it to your dorm if you need me to). When I bought it at Sears I paid over $250 for it. Both the fridge and freezer work extremely well and there is a temperature control that allows you to choose your own setting.

So yeah, just let me know if you're interested. But whether you want mine or not, you should definitely buy a fridge; it's just a much better deal.
