Advice about taking classes somewhere else

i go to GW and I am a freshman. i am not to happy with a city school and was rejected from my #1, Chapel Hill(out of state). Do for family reasons i will need to be in durham next semester. I want to take classes at Chapel Hil b/c i can not transfer spring and need to take classes somewhere. I plan on applying to Chapel Hill for next fall. I was wondering if i could simply take a leave of absence and take classes in Chapel Hill as well as apply for next year? will this decrease/increase chances? Could i live in the dorms if i am eligible to do so?

You could be a guest student at UNC for the spring, but you also need to get your schools permission to do so, or it won't count there.

It depends on how you do at UNC, whether it will help. The problem is that you appear to be bent on going to UNC no matter what. If you go there to take classes and get caught up in the Tarheel scene, how will it be for you to get waitlisted or rejected from it? If you're willing to take the risk, and GW will take the credit, you'll have nothing to lose. BTW, guest students don't usually dorm, so make sure to check more than once.

thanks a lot! anyone else know about this sort of thing? anyone done it before?
