Advice and a Chance needed!!!

First off, I just want to say thank you for taking the time to check out my thread and I have been reading threads around here and I admire everyone's exceptional test scores,GPAS, resumes, etc.

I have a couple questions and I will return the favor to the best of my ability.

I love SUNY Binghamton but my low test score is bringing me down so I don't know what to do.

GPA: 94.55
ACT: 27
Awards: Marine Corps Scholastic Excellence Award
EC: A few clubs but I'll highlight the "important" ones:
President of National Honor Society
Varsity Basketball for 4 years
Jobs: 20 hrs/week at WalMart since I was 16; I also hold a summer job every year
Essay and Recommendation: All are good.
Courses/Rigor:Take all honors/AP classes
Rank: 19/190
I also do alot of church work and volunteer at local soup kitchens.

Anyways, I got a 27 on my ACT with no prep and should have taken it today again, but for some reason I didn't. My counselor seems to believe that I should not apply EA because they look for the cream of the crop and I should not take the December ACT because my ACT score is "really not that bad". So I asked her what her reasoning was behind that and she claims that Binghamton is rolling admissions and the sooner I get my application in the better. I'm really confused. Thanks for your help.

Councilor is wrong about EA, most schools will be more competitive for it but will not reject you, rather they will defer you into the regular applicant pool if you're not qualified for EA. If you get rejected flat out for EA, you would not have been accepted in the regular pool either.
You have solid stats, take the ACT again or the SAT only if you think you could improve on it, if you don't then don't waste your time.
I don't know anything about SUNYs, but if they have rolling admissions then you should go ahead and apply now unless your score is below their average and you want to improve it.

I talked to the Binghamton rep and she said that they are no longer doing deferals. The avg ACT score is 28 but the range is 26-30 so I'm not sure.

i appreciate your response.
