Advice for dealing with my GC?

<p>I’m transferring into a new public school (for 11th grade) and there’s a couple of problems that I’m running across. Registration starts Monday and classes start Wednesday, so I really need to get my issues sorted out ASAP. Only… I not great at dealing with people and being persuasive [I often come on too stong]. I’d really like some advice to get what I want while not jeopardizing my relationship with my GC.</p>

<li><p>I self-studied Latin I. The teacher at my previous school let me take her final exam and signed me up for Latin II (H). The new school doesn’t have honors level, but I’d like to take the class anyway [I don’t know if it’s possible to take the Lv 1 final at this late time- and I’m not even sure if I’ll do great because it’s been a while since I’ve studied.]</p></li>
<li><p>My old school counted each phys ed semester as .25 credit and required two semesters [or .5 credit]. The new school requires 3 semesters, but counts each semester as .5 credit and requires 1.5 credits. So I’m a credit short, but only a semester short and I really don’t want to take one more semester than I have to.</p></li>
<li><p>They require a keyboarding class. I took computer classes through middle school, so I’m quite adept at typing and Microsoft Programs and whatnot. I don’t want to waste a semester re-learning this!</p></li>
<li><p>They want concurrent Physics with AP Chem. At my old school we had a choice between AP Bio & AP Chem after just taking Physical Science (9), Biology (10) and Chemistry (10 or 11) and we weren’t required [or even allowed] to take Physics until 12th grade. I signed up for AP Bio, but there’s no AP Bio class available here, so I’m planning on going with Chem, but I doubt I’ll have room in my schedule to put physics in as well. I’d really like an SATII in Chem.</p></li>
<li><p>Regular Physics is required for AP Physics C. Is this usually the case? In my previous school we just had AP Physics B, and you were allowed to take it without any prior physics class.</p></li>

<p>I think it would be best if you just clearly and concisely explain your problems to the GC just as you did here. Try to avoid "my old school did this, so you should too," which is disrespectful to this school's policies. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't accommodate #3, but your credit/class placement problems in the rest might be easier negotiations depending on the size and flexibility of your new school. You may want to wait until a week or so into school to ask about #3 because you may be able to get the keyboarding teacher on your side to vouch for your prior experience.</p>
