Advice for filling out financial aid/PFS

Start right now! I have filled out financial aid forms before with other online services, but the PFS required by many boarding schools is a BEAR. Kids, encourage your parents to at least sign up now and look at how long and detailed it is so they know how much time it will take. Honestly, I did not even know what they were asking on many questions and had to google terms from tax websites.
Also, there is a notice that due to storms they are behind in processing and may have significant delays.

My dad just told me he hasn’t had his 2019/2020 taxes done…January 15th deadline!

I was required to upload all completed tax forms, schedules, and W-2’s from 2019 and 2020, as well as estimate every last financial detail of 2021 and 2022.
Some schools require 2021 tax forms, also, but not until a several months later after the tax deadline.
It is a LONG form to fill out!

Yes it is! And if you get aid you get to do it every year, so yay! Thankfully the returning student deadline is Jan. 1 so I am finished! Honestly, some of the questions I had to make a best guess because even with google I had no idea what it was talking about, and they have the tax forms.
