<p>Hi, all. I just wonder which type of quilt do I need to buy for my D? Or Wellesley will prepare one for her in the dorm? Since we come from Hong Kong, usually has air-con in summers (very hot and humid) but no heating in winters (average temp is around 13-14°C). Any advice?</p>
<p>She will need to bring or purchase bedding; it will not be provided by Wellesley.</p>
<p>Even though it can be quite cold in Boston, sometimes the dorm rooms are quite warm due to the older heating system. I recommend she have whatever bedspread/quilt/comforter/duvet cover she likes, and then have extra blankets available for needed warmth, or to remove.</p>
<p>My D purchased an inexpensive comforter in colors and a pattern she liked.</p>

<p>HKMama, will you be flying in with your daughter to move her in, or will she be coming by herself? If you are flying in with her, you will want to rent a car and thus it will be easy to pick things up at BBB. We flew our daughter in, rented a car - daughter and I started to move into the room, husband drove to BBB and picked up her bedding that we had pre-reserved, and it all went smoothly. But it’s not readily accessible without a car (the BBB is about 20 minutes away). </p>

<p>Pizzagirl, I’ll be flying in with my daughter, to help her buy all the stuffs she needs. As we’ll fly from HK, the number of lugguage we can bring is limited, or we have to pay a lot. My husband suggests to buy some in Boston. Also, my D still doesn’t know where she’ll be living, she has just finished filling up the accomodation form.</p>
<p>HKmama, have you been to the US? Have you been to Boston? Are you comfortable renting a car and driving in the US?</p>
<p>Pizzagirl, my husband will accompany us to US, and he will be driving. We’ve been to US before. My husband and D have been to Boston last September for college visit. </p>
<p>BTW, does your D have her own printer? Is it necessary to buy one before the term starts?</p>
<p>hkmama, your daughter might want to discuss sharing a printer with her roommate, since some of the rooms are small and space can be tight for two of them.</p>
<p>Also, my daughter says that someone comes around early in the semester with used bicycles for sale.</p>
<p>My D has never had her own printer. There are printers on campus they can use. Also, a lot of papers are submitted via email (instead of printed out). She has not wanted one - they take up space, and you have to make sure you have enough ink jet cartridges/paper on hand. I’m sure there are times when it would be handy, but for her the hassles have outweighed the benefits.</p>
<p>Thanks for fendrock & college_query’s replies, the information are extremely useful. As papers & assignments are usually submiteed in hard copies in HK’s high school , I want to make sure if having a printer is more convenient. But it seems that my D can consider later.</p>
