Hello! I’m currently a junior in high school and I would love to get some advice concerning my class schedule for next year and my future in general.
I’ve always been a major slacker in school and it was not until this year that I truly started to make improvements. I had many personal and family problems(still do, but I’ve finally learned to overcome them in order to do well in school) and felt constantly unmotivated for school and thus did noticeably worse than I could have, had I actually focused more on academics. My class schedule for senior year is already significantly more difficult than the classes I’ve had these past 3 years.
Freshman year I took:
English 1 Honors
Geometry Honors
Biology Honors
World History Honors
Psychology / Sociology (half year for each)
French 1
Sophomore year I took:
English 2 Honors
Algebra 2 Honors
Chemistry Honors
AP Environmental Science
AP Psychology
French 2
This year I’m taking:
English 3 Honors
Precal Honors
Phys Ed. (it’s a requirement at our school, would’ve preferred to take another ap otherwise)
French 3 Honors
APUSH
AP Human Geo
My schedule for next year(so far) is:
Anatomy and Physiology Honors
AP Art History
AP Gov / AP Econ (half year for each)
AP French Lang
AP Calc AB
English 4 Honors(subject to change)
I’m already somewhat nervous for next year but I’m fairly sure I can handle the current schedule; my only problem is that I’m also considering taking AP Eng Lit online(which would result in a fair amount of self-studying for it), in addition to my other 6 classes. It’s generally recommended at my school to not take AP Lit without taking AP Lang but I’d really like to take it, though I’m not sure if I’m good enough. If I did decide to take AP Lit then English 4 would be removed from my schedule and instead be replaced by some elective of some sort.
This year I did fairly well but I struggled quite a bit in APUSH. Speaking of which, I’m rather nervous for as the exam is in two days lol. I’ve taken fairly easy APs so far so APUSH was a lot more difficult for me to deal with, and I’m much more anxious regarding the exam than I am about the other exam I’m to take next week(human geo).
Last year I got a 4 in Psych and a 3 in Env Sci, but I’m positive the 3 in env sci is largely due to my slacking off and lack of studying; the 4 in psych I can accept.
So ultimately, I’d just like some advice on whether or not I should take AP Lit in addition to the classes I will already be taking and if my schedule would be too difficult for me. Thank you!
