Advice for recommendations?

So, basically I have to ask my teachers tomorrow for recommendations. Tomorrow is my last day of school and all teachers want requests before the summer.
I need two recs, and I'm getting one from my biology teacher who I have a strong relationship with, but I need some advice as to who the second teacher should be. I'm stuck between Teacher A and Teacher B

Teacher A
English Teacher
Writes fantastic recs
Don't have a very strong or personal relationship

Teacher B
Chinese Teacher
Unsure of quality of recs
Have a strong and personal relationship, but I think she really dislikes me sometimes. Also, she is a little insane and tends to have sudden changes of mood.

The thing is though, that I want to double major in biochemistry/molecular Bio and foreign language. So if I were to get one from my Chinese teacher, it might not be very good, but at least it would show something about my foreign language skills.

Any advice?

Maybe you can sit down and ask your Chinese teacher nicely to write you a recommendation, then go over what you would like for her to write/include in the letter.

Yeah, I’d go with the Chinese teacher. If you have a strong personal relationship with that teacher, that person will know more about you and what to include. It also helps that it’s the foreign language teacher. I highly doubt the teacher will have a random mood swing in the middle of a rec letter, lol. So, Good Luck!

A teacher with knowledge of who you are is a good start. As noted above, it is also a good idea to have a conversation with your recommender about the general theme and approach of your application and to also politely suggest some aspects of your past performance that you want to be highlighted.

If you have any questions about letters of recommendation, message me. There are some good blog posts that cover this topic pretty well.
