Advice for transfering

So I was just recently denied from my own state school (University of Illinois-Urbana) which I thought I would be attending next year. I'm trying to figure out what schools I should start planning for and taking recommended classes.

Right now I'm currently a Freshman in my second semester of college. My first semester I was a landscape architecture student at Purdue and received a 2.8 GPA (only C was in Biol110) I found out this was not the major or school for me so I'm back at a CC in Chicago. I'm doing really good and getting straight A's and also participating in as many clubs and organizations as i can.

My problem is I'm trying to decide what colleges I would have a chance as if i applied for junior standing (assuming this upward trend continued) With summer classes and and next years classes I am confident I could get my GPA around 3.5-3.6.

I would like to pursue a degree in philosophy. Do you think it would be worth it to take recommended classes to pursue and education at Notre Dame or UNC. I wouldn't apply to just these but I was just wondering if I would have a chance as a junior or if I should look at more less selective schools.

I ended HS with a 3.4 GPA with many honors classes and acts in the lower 20s(I may try the SAT just to see how i end up) I also had many ec's from orchestra to soccer and lacrosse and a lot of community service.

I also may re apply to UIUC as well as look into University of Michigan

U of I looks like a match for you if you can consistently get A's over the next couple terms. They receive so many applications that they're forced to evaluate in terms of GPA/strength of schedule primarily.

Which city do you live in? PM me this. Ill try to help you out.

Yeah I'm looking to go into Law potentially so I like U of I and UMich
