Advice/Help on choosing a type of schooling

Hi everyone, I'm new here. I joined because I need to make a final decision on what I want to do w/ my crap life.

I wasn't accepted into any CSU (Cal state University) schools because I either forgot to send something in or my past grades were bad.

I can't go to any Texas universities because I graduated on the minimum plan. I'm from CA, but spent my senior year in TX and I wasn't able to get into their higher plans.

Now I'm stuck trying to figure out what to do. I was going to take a gap year to improve my academic profile, but I'm not sure if it will work. I'm thinking about a CC.

I want to animate and compose music, but I have little experience.

I'm looking to go to college in California. My sisters and other relatives live out there. My mother is in Vegas and right now I reside in TX with my father.

Should I take a gap year and try for a university? Or should I just go to a CC? The reason I don't want to go to a CC is because I feel it will be like HS all over again and I won't have any fun. I hear a lot of negatives than positives, I'm not sure if I should.

Please help, I'm really stressed out.

CC is completely different than high school. If you go to a CC for a few years, get good grades and such, then you could transfer into one of the universities that you cant get into right now. It’ll save you some money too.

Your better off trying CC in my opinion, which you can use to get your grades up. Plus it won’t be like high school because you can choose a non-local one so you know nobody. It is a chance to save some money, raise your grades a bit, meet new people, and so on.

Given that you don’t seem to know why you weren’t accepted into a CSU, the cc route might help you figure out the academics and time management skills you need to succeed in college.

CC → state university (in whichever state you would quality for in-state tuition – both CA and TX have good state universities) would be a sensible path to get back on track at relatively low cost.

Thanks everybody. I plan on attending a CC so I can transfer.
