Advice needed!!

Hi to all transfer students!! I was wondering if you guys could give me a few suggestions for another school to my small list of applications. I'm a second year studying abroad, looking to transfer back to the states to a strong school, but I need a 'safety' - a good, competitive school that offers a wide variety of different programs, but is also more transfer-friendly than most of the top schools.

Right now, my tentative list includes UChicago, Georgetown, and possibly Brown and Cornell. I applied last year to transfer to UChicago (my first choice) and got in, but turned it down mostly due to my poor financial aid award. Now I'm kicking myself for this decision. I'm dead afraid that they won't accept me a second time, but I am desperate to find a better academic experience than what I currently have. Last year I ONLY applied to UChicago, but now I know I have to go somewhere else, even if it isn't UofC.

I'm studying english and anthropology, but would also like to pursue comparitive literature, and sociology, in smaller classes which involve a lot of discussion and interaction with profs and other students. I also need a school which gives more assessed work throughout the semester, not just 2 essays and a 60% exam! Sorry for the long post - if anyone has suggestions, I'd really appreciate it!

bump
anyone? I hate the transfer process and I'm a little lost at the moment (doesn't help that it's exam week!)

Are you a guy or girl? A girl could look into Barnard (affiliated with Columbia).

Also try Swarthmore--fits the academic description you gave.

But transfer-friendly...hmm...try some state schools

thanks, I'm a girl so I'll check out Barnard! Never even occurred to me.

And by transfer-friendly I mean, a school that will accept what I'd call a reasonable amount of transfer students, comparable to their regular acceptance rates. some schools' rates are ridiculously low, 6%, 8%... frightening, and I tend to doubt myself anyway :)
