Advice needed

Here is my story:
I graduated in june 2008 and I attended penn state university from august 2008 to May 2009. At the end of that school year my GPA was a 1.5. I decided to take a leave of absence
and start over at a community college. I was at the community college from June 2009 to May 2010. My GPA at the community college is a 3.3 . At my community college I am considered as a new student. Now I want to apply to Ohio State university. But on the application I am thinking of just not mentioning my time at PSU and just add my time with the community college and make up something about that one year gap. Is this the right thing to do? Is this risky? Should I just add my time at PSU? I don't know what to do some advice would be appreciated. On the OSU application it says write a personal statement if there was an interruption in your academics. If I write a good personal statement explaining what happened at PSU would I still have a chance to get into OSU?

Is this a right thing to do? Well, in my opinion I would obviously say no.

I don’t know if you’re allowed to omit your time at penn state

I would say if you have a very good personal statement explaining your time at penn state and time off you will have a shot. you have shown improvement and i am assuming you have a good story for why you could not perform your best and had to take a leave of absence.

Well during my leave of absence I started over at a community college.

If your transfer college ever finds out you lied/omitted transcripts you can have your acceptance and even your future earned degree revoked. The price is too high.

Write a good essay about what you learned and colleges will look primarily at your grade trend. You need to apply to colleges where a 3.3 in recent grades is a good fit. I don’t know enough about Ohio State but a 3.3 is probably reasonable. Just pick some other matches/safeties as well.

Good luck.

Stay another year at the CC. Get your 3.3 GPA up higher. Fill all of the prereqs for whatever program you want to transfer into. Apply for transfer as a junior.

Well they ask on the application what classes I will be taking before I enroll at Ohio State. Is it a possibility that they might decide to accept me but want to see what grades I get on my summer classes before they make it official to accept me?

Don’t lie, people lose degrees over this. If you received a cent in financial aid, even just a loan, it will be seen immediately by the new school.
