Help!

I am planning on attending OSU as a transfer sophomore after completing my freshmen year at an OOS 4-year university.

I filled out an app April 23rd and received a letter dated May 20th saying that they would like my final transcripts to make a final admissions decision.

I had a 2.68 after 10 credits when I applied and the transcripts im sending them show I earned a 3.5 after 12 credits my second semester which is what they will be evaluating…i think?

OVERALL 3.12 GPA 22 credits 23 ACT HS GPA 2.8 <-(i dont think this will be a big factor because they already had that when they first reviewed my app)

I am freaking out waiting for a reply because I sent my transcripts May 21st and they have not received them…im positive they were sent out and arrived the same day and although they say it may take up to 10 days after they have been received to begin the final process (its been 14) im still worried!!

I am applying as a Information Systems major to Columbus

I am wondering if this will take “up to 6 weeks” like they say it can once these are in the systems (if they ever get added) or if their decision will be a quick one because I think they just wanted to see how I did after that 2.68 10 credit first college semester… I think a 3.5 would be sufficient to grant me admission without hesitation

ANY IMPUT IS HIGHLY APPRECIATED

thank you

It’s only been 10 business days, why not just give them a call?

closed today…did yesterday they didnt have any record of it :/

OTOTA457 I am in a very similar situation as you. I applied for transfer from an OOS college at the beginning of this semester with 15 credits and a 2.7 G.P.A. However, on the application I checked that I wanted the decision to be based off of my spring 2012 semester (bumping me up to 30 credits). Therefore they will wait to make their decision until they have received the grades from this semester. Similar to you, the grades were sent May 29 and I have not heard anything/ they haven’t acknowledged receiving them. Also, this semester I really improved and raised my overall G.P.A to a 3.3 (something I believe will be competitive). So I really wanted to make sure those grades were factored in the decision. I have called the admissions office and they reassured me that they will indeed wait until receiving the grades. I am assuming that because they are such a big school it takes them a while to review applications.
Hope this helps. Good luck and let us know if you hear anything!

finally! someone who feels my pain…

when did you apply? and did they ask for your second semester transcripts? they did for me they said theyll make a decision after that…so if i had a 2.68 and they said maybe im thinking a 3.12=yes

what are you majoring in? im business

a 2.7 to 3.3 is a huge jump! thats really impressive i think that will get you in forsure…kinda like me but im a little less extreme…and i only have 22 credits :/

I submitted my application on January 30th. In my initial application I put down that I would be applying with over 30 total credits and to wait for my grades; so they didnt have to ask, I was doing it regardless.

I am a Bio major. I heard the business program is very good at OSU, that’s a good choice.

I had a rough transition to studying at the college level. I also think maturity was a big factor in my improvement in G.P.A. This spring term was my first rock solid semester (finished with a 3.8). I am really hoping admissions is willing to give me a shot despite my “rough start”.

i think its pretty safe to say that your in!
