Advice on ACT Scores

So I took the ACT for the first time back in December 12th. I got my scores back around the 23rd. How bad are they, and any tips on improving? I’m planning to take it again in February to get my scores up. I should do better, considering this was my first time.

Composite: 23

English: 28

Math: 15

Reading: 30

Science: 20

Writing: 17

ELA: 25

Ok so if there is one main tip i could give you it would be to plow through literally as many practice tests as you can. Get a 5 subject notebook. Separate the sections into english, math, reading, science, and writing (the essay). After you take a practice test, go to a specific section in the notebook and write down the question you got wrong. Then write down why you got them wrong, what the correct answer is, and what you can do next time so you won’t make the same mistake. If you do this with a lot of tests, your score will significantly improve. But make sure you understand each question thoroughly.

I used this technique with about 15-18 practice tests and got a 34.

For the english remember that less is always more, so when there is an option to “omit the underlined section” that’s the correct answer 9/10 times
For math I personally had to go back and look at all the theorems for geometry because I HATE geometry and forgot most of the material.
To get your science grade up my advice is to read everything about the experiments, this way you won’t have to go look up the answer when you get stuck on a question, thus saving time.
Hope this helps!

Your English and Reading scores are very good. It’s your math that will hold you back. Get an ACT math book with lots of questions and practice, practice, practice.
