Advice on Internship offers: Industry vs Public?

Hello Everyone,

I'm a current undergraduate at the University of Washington majoring in Accounting. I'm currently a senior in terms of status because I was prepared to graduate with a Marketing major, but switched to Accounting last quarter which extends me onward another year. Although I will be CPA eligible. So I am a junior in the Accounting major.

I have been networking and attending recruiting events and received two offers for an internship starting this winter (January 2014). Although I don't know which one to choose. One is public from a mid-size firm (5th largest) and the other is a Fortune 500 Industry (private corporation).

The industry intern is a 6 month paid internship with no intention of full hire at the end, but the extra length of experience would be great. On the other hand the public accounting firm is only 3 months, although I was told it has potential to sign a contract for full employment if my internship is well (though not guaranteed). Right now I'm torn between the two options and must let one of them know by Monday/Tuesday at latest. Any feedback?
