Hi! I’m a junior and this week we’re supposed to submit the classes we plan on taking senior year. Has anyone taken/is taking AP Econ and can offer an idea on what the course/workload will be like? My main concern is understanding the logic and concepts. I’ve taken AP US Gov and US History and am currently taking AP Psych and AP World so I’m pretty comfortable with memorizing vocab. However, math has always been my weakest area so I’m wondering how much of Econ is going to focus on that.
for micro: MR=MC in 15 different formats
for macro: here’s a bunch of logical ways of doing the same thing (or find the intersection of 2 lines) and pick one
Clearly the above two don’t like econ too much . There is memorization, but there’s also logic. I cannot do memorization at all, but I made it through micro perfectly fine. You can understand it if you try hard enough.
AP economics has no logic in it because it’s watered down, and lacking the mathematical foundation to truly introduce logic into the course. For the sake of simplification, integrals turn into find the area under this line because you can, for example.
If you plan on taking a major in college where it could be useful go for it, AP Econ isn’t even offered at my school but if it was I’d probably take it
