Let's get this straight: I don't want advice on the transfer process itself. I am a senior in high school.

If anyone goes to Baruch or knows a lot about it, PM me. Please.

I am planning to major in something business-related, possibly in actuarial science. Potentially ideal schools, which I may research about in college, are NYU (Stern?), Columbia, etc. -- "top" schools in NYC. As I have a head start, my goal is to simply be a very competitive transfer student.

1) I am going to attend a school that, in my impression, will not help me maximize my credentials as a future transfer student (by way of taking difficult courses, satisfying prerequisites, etc.).

I read that Baruch gives freshmen last priority to register for specific classes, meaning it may be in Baruch for very long before I am even able to transfer. This may also mean that my freshman year will not help me look competitive and distinguished.

2) Which schools and community colleges in NYC have a high proportion of students who transfer into top schools?

3) Out of all the transfer threads I've read, I've never read about someone transferring from a CUNY to a top school. I read about one guy, username jacknjill, that wanted to transfer from Baruch to NYU and a few IVY leagues but got rejected. He is the same person that complained about not having good grounds for transferring. Why is this so uncommon/difficult?

Once again, if you go to Baruch or know a lot about it, please PM me.
