Alright I'm a freshman going to St.johns university. I don't really have a major but been thinking of either Economic, Finance, Accounting or something business related. My high school stats were 930 Sat out of 1600. Had a lot of ECs, good Rec. Gpa was a 2.0 tho. Other stats are African American American and First Generation college student.
First Semester in College
Theology A
Philosophy B
Speech A-
Math Intro to Algebra B-
Critical Thinking Skills A
College Exp(fresh orientation pretty much) A.

2nd Semester Estimated Grades
Economics B+
Statistics A-
English Comp A
Biology A
History B+
Discovering New York A
My first semester Gpa was a 3.44 but that was a major change from high school.
I really don't feel like living at home or dorming at St.johns so I want to transfer elsewhere. I want to stay close to NY since I live in Long Island.
Schools I'm thinking about are
Rutgers NB
Temple
Suny Bingo
Cuny Baruach
Maryland CP
NYU

I don't know if I should just stay an another year. Take summer sessions and finish 07-08 figure out my major and then transfer. I just really need to transfer since I feel like I have no life have no fun and I want a diploma from a better credited school since I hear St.johns isn't that credited anymore.

Once you are an sophomore tranfer, then your high school grades will be taken into their consideration more heavily. I would advise you to stay one more year and transfer as a Junior. I am not sure how competetive temple and Suny, Cuny schools are but NY, and Maryland seems like a reach for you if you transfer as a soph. But if you can keep up with higher GPA like 3.6ish, then you might have higher chances. Good Luck...

If I wanted to transfer as a sophomore should I retake my Sats to up my chances our is my best bet transfering as a junior or maybe even a sophomore spring transfer

for NYU, you'll want to wait to transfer as a junior

Yes, wait another year, because your hs stats will take you out of contention.

What classes should I take thenfcause at my school we have to declare a major by spring semester? Also if I was to apply spring semester sophomore year would my grades still be in heavy consideration. Also I was planning on taking some summer session classes this summer and winter next year so what is the cut off limit for credits??

So can anyone give me chances to Cuny Baruch, Temple University, and Rutgers NB????
