Advice Please: Pondering UChicago transfer lol

I was waitlisted at UChig last year lol, I sent in super good grades, additional recs, and a passionate letter of continued interest that came from the bottom of my heart, I even spammed the refresh button here on CC waitlist threads every 10 mins for 16 hours a day for 3 months (the CCers who remember my posts will recall my desperation) but I still failed lol

Is a 3.7 GPA (all As, B in Calc) in an engineering/business dual degree competitive at all? Im a freshman at USC and I may start to consider transferring to uchicago econ lol, I have pretty good ECs (I even have a leadership position this year), am in a sports team, a ton of professional experience (interning at a renowned firm this summer too), and I'm sure writing the best killer essays wont be a problem for me (I am a master of persuasive and eloquent *****ting - this I * you not, I was just too blinded by fear to do something creative last year).

Oh and how much weight is put on your high school record (Can I even have a high school prof recommend me)? I have a 1400/2100 SAT LOLz... pretty low for uchig standards right?

I guess transferring in as a junior would be the best option (tell me if Im wrong) - this gives me 1.5 more years to bump up my GPA even more and secure even more prestigious internships etc before turning in my app. Should I re-establish contact with my chicago adcom? Any other opinions/ advice?

If I were you, I would ask myself a few things:

It sounds like the program you are in right now is not at all like what Chicago offers. Are you looking for a core curriculum that focuses on ideas, primary texts, discussion-based classes?

Why are you interested in the University of Chicago in particular?

Yeah, Ive decided that I want to get an MBA in the future so I want to do something different for undergrad

There are a crapload of things I like about Chicago, mainly its intellectual/academic/quirky vibe/reputation and economics program.

If ever I decide to transfer, when should I apply and do I look competitive at all? Admit rates I think are pretty low
