I don't know what to do with my summer. I can either

1) Attend the Boston University High School Honors Research Internship Program and do research under somebody there for 6 weeks. And then that would be the majority of my summer.

or..

2) Stay home and volunteer at the local ambulance corp all summer for like 20-30 hours/week. I can also stay home and figure skate the entire summer (I am and have been a figure skater for 9 years).

Please give me advice on which I should do. Would the volunteering look better for the internship?

Side note: I want to apply to Engineering schools and I am Junior right now.

Would the volunteering look better for the internship?

^^ opps I mean "or the internship" not "for"

isnt that the "internship" that you have to pay like $4000 to do?

WOAH.. thats not an internship at all. i think normal internships are the ones that pay you money (mine pays $2k). the expensive "internship" is not so tempting then. with the $4k, you should probably take some online courses at harvard SSP or stanford EPGY, at the same time volunteer and figure skate. that should be a fulfilling summer.

Do what you want to do. If college didn't exist... would you rather do 1) or 2)?

yeah you have to pay for it, but in the end you get to send whatever you do to seimans and intel and all those competitions.

if college didn't exist i would still want to do the first because research is always something i have wanted to do, but there are no research opportunities in my school or local area for high school students.

ahh, i hate decisions like these.
