hello,
I'm international student.
I'm going to start my preparation for critical reading. Going to use Barron's book.
Here's my problem: My English knowledge isn't very good. Maybe think a bit lower then advanced. I know that each SAT book has material to read but at first I,d like to start with something just a bit easier so that I can understand those texts in full extent. I need something hard to understand but still easier than those for the SAT.
Or can you help me to sort easier text out from those texts?
My current CR score is 500 ( I don't have reasoning problems. Just have lack of vocabulary,
reading skills and general knowledge of English)
Preparation time about 5 months.
Sorry for my awful writing

Hey! You’re in a tough position. Maybe you could try reading some easier novels and then ask yourself ‘questions’ to ensure that you understand them. You’d pick up reading comprehension skills and probably some vocab.

Another thing that my parents used to make me do when I was in elementary is that they would buy books that were geared towards just improving reading comprehension. You’d get passages to read and questions to answer. Often times, they’d go over vocab too.

I’m sure if you keep working at it, you’ll get the score you want. Gl! :)

thanks for help.
You know I tried to short story of Edgar Allan poe ( “Murders In The Rue Morgue”) and it was definitely too hard. than I took “Jonathan Livingston seagull” which was very easy (didn’t even encounter new words). I used to read short stories of Jack London too while I had time and did understand them fairly good, but there were a lot of new words (which were very useful. many of them appeared in Direct hits book).
thanks for your response again.
Any other opinions are welcome
