SAT Literature...FFREAAKING OUT

Ok, so I plan to take SAT lit in May, and I've been doing some tests in the Barrons book. I was quite taken aback to find I got almost 1/3 of the questions wrong (with no prep). but still, I know almost of all those terms and literary devices on the test and I'm usually alright with reading comprehension..(740 SAT CR)...HOW do I prepare/study!?! I've read through some of the Barrons book, but it doesn't seem to be helping...HELP!!!!!!!!!!

firstly: calm down! the only way you're going to do well is if you chill out. treat it like any other test. relax, eat some ice cream, watch some tv, listen to music, then try a few practice questions after that. trust me, it will help.

secondly: i was in a very similar position to yours in october! i was consistently doing badly on the lit practice tests, and i have a 760 CR on the SAT. the skill sets, however, aren't all that different. the trick is to NOT overthink ANYTHING; the answers are much more obvious than you think they are! just because the syntax is tougher doesn't mean the questions are, too. just be patient. take tests consistently; be sure to understand why you got things wrong. slow down on your tests. don't worry; your SAT score is great, i'm sure you'll be fine!!

i'd like to warn you that there is no correlation IMO whatsoever between your ability to CR in the SAT I and the Literature SAT II. they are two completely different tests, testing two completely different things, and your scores on both tests can vary wildly.

how to study? i really tried, i tried and i tried i bought the princeton rview barrons kaplan altogether and i just did all the tests, and i tried. bear in mind i got 780 on the CR sat I; and i "only" got a 700 for this literature test. im not sure of your litreature background (i take IB, so i don't really go into this literature in-depth multiple choice interpretation stuff) but it is truly in my opinion one of the hardest SAT II tests to score high on. becuase either you have it or don't...

having said that, GOOD luck!

Hey dead_crocodile! I'm having the same problem with Barrons. I took my first practice test today, and made 14 mistakes!!! Man, I sure hope I won't do THAT badly on May 5th...

Anyone else have experience with Barrons lit? How were your practice scores vs. CB scores? THANKS :D
