I really need help in choosing what electives are necessary, and what aren’t.
I’m not sure what I’d like to do when I grow up, but journalism seems like a safe choice to my parents, though it’s not my favorite.
I am only allowed 2 electives out of the following:
AP Psychology (great GPA boost, don't most students take this?)
Journalism II (I could become an editor, which counts as leadership, doesn't it?)
Computer Info Systems OR Programming (I think a computer program is necessary at this generation, and also, my teacher advises I take one of these classes if I want to become an officer in his club)
Intro. to Business (I've always been interested in business, maybe this could be something I enjoy?)
Fashion Marketing (I like fashion, and it's related to business)
Which 2 do you think would be a priority to include in my junior year?
First, journalism is far from a safe choice as a career if that is what you are saying. Go for it if you want to do that, but it can be a tough field.
I say pick something to see if you like it as a major from those options, psych, business, journalism, etc. Computer science should be good for applications and useful regardless of your eventual college major.
Take whichever interests you more. Colleges will not “value” one more than the other. Without seeing the syllabi, I can’t say which one I’d recommend, although programming might be more useful to you. Ask some current students in the classes.
