I'm a good student-- took the ACT in 7th Grade and got a 25, currently have a 4.0 (I'm in all Pre-AP/Honors classes). I also love drama and writing.

I've been in two plays this year, I'm taking Drama 1, and in April I'll be inducted into the International Thespian Society. I plan to take Drama every year and stay very involved in theater with the Thespian Festival, various forensics/speech tournaments, and more plays. But I don't plan to pursue Drama as a career-- I just enjoy it and want to do it in high school while I can.

On the other hand, I can take Journalism 1 next year. You have to be in Journalism 2 to be on the newspaper, and I could actually see myself pursuing journalism as a career. Would taking both electives for the next two (or even three) years look bad for colleges? I know I should be taking APs out the wazoo or whatever, and I don't want to fall behind everyone else.

So, the actual questions:
1.) Will heavy participation in an elective as specific as theater make me look well-rounded for applications, even though I don't plan to continue it?
2.) Would doubling up on these two electives rather than taking one elective and one "real" class make my schedule more "fluffy"?

Also, a third completely unrelated question I might as well throw in there:

3.) I'm in Spanish 3 as a freshman. I plan to take Spanish 4 next year and AP Spanish 5 (Lang) my junior year, but not AP Spanish 6 (Lit) my senior year to have time for another class. Does that look okay? I currently have a 107 in Spanish 3, so I imagine I'll keep doing well in the classes.

Thanks so much!
