Advising day

After I took the FTCAP tests, they gave me June 10 to come and advise, which is the day I graduate so I had to reschedule of course. I rescheduled to June 23. Is that too late? Like will I get the classes that I need?

I spoke to a woman in the FTCAP office and she said about there are about 250 kids on each FTCAP advising day choosing classes. The dates begin in late May.

Well, some of the more popular classes might be gone, but I’m sure the advisors have a way of accommodating students like you. Mine is gonna be the day after that I believe, but I’m a little ahead of people because of my AP’s

@Megsshrubs when did you take your FTCAP and when did you get your postcard with the advising day?

June 14th…took it last saturday or sunday. Completely bombed the test most likely.

The postcards with the FTCAP advising days come about a week after you take the test.

I was given May 26th.Well I have to reschedule that cause
1.I have exams.
2.I live in singapore

They say students living abroad usually do it in August when they arrive.
But wont the good classes go by then?
and this cant be done over the phone!
WHAT CAN I DO :(

Schedule as soon as you can because there is about eight thousand incoming freshman every year and there is only so many spots for each class.

Swetha93:

I wouldn’t worry too much about that process. Yes, there will be a smaller selection of classes for fall semester if you do you advising in August when you get there, however, there is a drop/add period during the beginning of the semester (first two weeks I think?). As other students drop classes, seats will open up. Also, it is only first semester, so you will be scheduling for second semester at some point in late october I think.

Just curios, will there be time for a campus tour during advising day or is that something that must be done separately?

My date is June 10th if that makes a difference.

I am an international student currently in US. I took my FTCAP test already and my advising day was scheduled on June 10. As I know, there is also an advising day for international students on Aug 15, the last day of the international orientation.

The problem is, now I have two choices, June 10 or Aug 15. After three days of searching and emailing, I heard that the more popular classes were basically full in late May. Also, people’s adding and droping classes in the summer also leads to a more complicated situation. In this case, is it still worth to go on June 10?? If I do, I will be all alone in June…kinda scary…

Ps. Anyway I have to be on campus at Aug 10 because of the international students’ orientation.I will be in Smeal and major in business.
