I’m an international student who was accepted to UTD CS on November 7 with the lowest tier AES (3k/sem + oos waiver) with my old SAT score of 1390. I retook the SAT in December and got a 1440 (the curves were horrible for intls – 3 mistakes in math was a 740). I appealed for the full tuition AES with this score and was rejected. I’m now depressed since UTD is my top choice and a couple less points in the SAT has put me over 30 grand in debt.
My HS grades are decent: 78% in 9th-grade, 94% in 10th-grade, 80% in 11th (11th grade in my country is actually very tough and this score is, in fact, the top 10%), and 92% predicted for 12th-grade.
Now I wanted to ask if I can appeal for a higher AES again in April once I get my 12th-grade final exam results? ie. if I have performed much better than my predicted scores.
Or can I take the April ACT and get reconsidered? And should I email them about the horrible December SAT curves or will it look like I’m giving a bad excuse?
