I am a junior in high school, in a high school on the quarter system, and throughout my career, my grades have been all A's, with 2 or 3 A-'s. Unfortunately, for one quarter, it looks like I will get a B+, which would be my first academic B of any type in high school. To complicate things (or not) the class on the transcript is called "... Year 1", and I will not be taking year 2, although it is offered. Year 1 is just AP Physics B, although it is called IB year 1. I have no real insight on college admissions, and so will this B+ affect the overall perception of my stats at the most selective schools? Again it is just 1 quarter of this one class, but I will not be taking year 2. I'm not taking year 2 because of the difficulty, but I'm afraid that is what it might look like. Thank you!

1 B is fine… don’t worry. Usually kids around 3.8 or higher are generally grouped into the same “echelon” when talking about very selective schools. One B is no big deal.

No it will not unless you are applying to the Ives and that may not even hurt you. If you at, I would take the year 2 and do well in it!

Let me state unequivocally, the universe is upside down if anyone thinks a single B will “hurt” an applicant, applying to any US college. That’s absurd. @thetrill1: please don’t even repeat this nervous utterance. You might not get into your dream college but it won’t be because you’ve not done extraordinary in academics.

Thank you! Haha I appreciate the advice, although the thing that’s bothering me the most right now is that I think I used the wrong affect/effect in the title and I don’t know how to change it, but thanks anyways for the advice.
