Alright, so before I get to the point of this, I'd like to let you know that I am hispanic and economically disadvantaged. So, I am pro-affirmative acton, but only to a certain point.

So to the point:

Affirmative Action-ed students are like fat girls: the same way fat girls say that appearance isn't everything, affirmative action-ed students say that numbers aren't everything. Everyone knows that both the looks and the numbers play a MAJOR role. lol.

Ok, so this was possible one of the most point-less threads out there but I just had to say that : )

i am pro affirmative action but i think it should be economically based. why should a rich african american who attended a prominent high school get an advantage over a poor white kid?

that's exactly how I feel, but what I fear is that if it does become economically based, parents and students will start to manipulate their money/accounts/stocks or whatever to make them seem as economically disadvantaged as possible.

Im pro AA also. It'd be better if it was economically based, but I believe there should be something like AA. Unfortunately I'm asian so it doesn't help me out much lol.(For the Korean people: Guess what my name is in Korean!)

Before I let loose my weapons of mass destruction on the person that started another AA thread just after we buried a 27 page AA thread, I would like to advise the use of the search bar to the OP. Now where were we...oh yeah, orbitgum...

There is a 344-post long thread on affirmative action a few pages back. The thread is called "affirmative action ethics" I suggest you all check that before making any and all assertions on the issue.
