I have an idea what does on there because every year 100 seniors apply to UM, 40 are accepted, 25 matriculate, I live 15 minutes away from UM, I read annarbor.com, I have a lot of friends that go to UM, etc.

I’m not debating the merits of AA, I’m just saying that per the law, Michigan cannot give preferential treatment because of their race. If you guys are saying that Michigan is accepting URMs that are already meet Michigan standards, well then duh. I don’t consider that using race for an advantage because the applicant was likely to be admitted anyways.

I’m saying that he won’t get in because(empahsis) he’s black. Maybe an application does get another see through - but that’s not accepting somebody because they are a URM.

OP, I suggest you apply EA this year as Michigan moves to the common app. Your SAT score is within range, so if you can improve your (weighted) GPA, that will help a lot. Even if you get deferred, keep working on that GPA. Make sure you take hard classes for that GPA boost. The diving aspect of you is pretty cool; that might help a lot.
