After BC Calc?

Hello everyone,
I am a junior (soon to be senior) and I took BC Calc this year. I got As all 4 quarters, and I was debating about what to take next year. Originally I signed up for Linear Algebra, but apparently only 8 kids signed up for it, so they are not offering it next year. Now I am tentatively signed up to take Stats and Computer Science. To make a long story short, I was thinking about taking Calc 3 at a college, and want sure how that compared in difficulty to Calc 1&2. Thanks!!

Did you do good in BC? I would take the Calc 3.

Take Calc 3. Brush up on your skills over the summer.

Well I got a 93 first quarter, 91 (which I only pulled out because of the last test), 93 third quarter, and I currently have a 97 for fourth quarter… If that helps at all

Part of me feels obligated to move on and take Calc 3, but part of me is like “it’s your senior year”

Don’t take it unless you want to. It’s not going to make or break anything.

At my local CC, this is the course progression:
Calc 2-> linear algebra
or
Calc 2 -> Calc 3 -> differential equations

Stats is of course an option, if you’re going into a math-heavy field then you should probably take CC courses, otherwise Stats should be fine if you don’t want to take community college courses.

So if I were to apply to an ivy league, you guys dont think that it would make much of a difference in whether or not I am accepted?

No. However, if you plan to continue studying math in college, I would suggest continuing with math your senior year of HS; take calc 3.

My daughter is in a similar situation and she was advised to take math each semester of high school. You might want to think about calc 3 one semester and stats the other.

If I were you, I’d take calc 3

Colleges just want to see you max out your potential at your local school. Going out of your way to take a CC course is not required. You may, however, want to do so out of intellectual curiosity.
