After taking AB Calc, should I take BC Calc or AP Statistics?

I will be a senior this fall. I took AB Calculus this year (my school did not offer BC Calculus), and I got a B for the course and a 4 on the AP exam. Despite these flawed scores, I do feel that I'm ready for Multivariable Calculus.

I am moving over the summer; the school I am going to offers AB Calc, BC Calc, and AP Statistics. Also, I could request for them to pay for me to take college-level Multivariable Calc online (my family can barely afford housing and food never mind pay for a math class.)

From what I've learned from the curriculum posted by College Board, BC Calculus only covers a little more material than AB Calculus. Maybe repeating material would be good for me but I want to learn new concepts.

I've been told by a few people not to venture off the "Calculus path" by not going straight to Multivariable and instead taking Linear Algebra or Statistics, for example. So, I'm wary about taking AP Statistics.

I think my best bet is the Multivariable, but I don't know if I can get funds for it or if I should even take it now. I am interested in majoring in either engineering or computer science, majors which require a strong knowledge of Calculus. If anyone has any advice, I would really appreciate it!

Flawed scores? What makes them flawed?

Oh, as opposed to an A and a 5.

Oh, I thought you meant the validity of your grade and test score were flawed.

Isn’t AP Stats supposed to be a joke/easy class? I’ld do BC or Multivariable f you want to learn new concepts.

^ Maybe in your school, but in mine, AP Stats is killer.

I would just continue Calculus because of your choice of major.

If I were you I’d continue with Calculus BC but if it’s possible you should take both!

Go for Multivariable Calc with BC as a backup. Maybe you could take AP Stat, but it’s basically not a math class, and so I wouldn’t suggest taking it as a replacement.

l0l the class average for my stat class was a 76. There were three As. Definitely not a joke/easy class.

I would continue on the calculus path. Stat isn’t really math, and if you want to major in engineering calc will be useful, while stat won’t. If you feel prepared for multivariable, go for it. If not, just go with BC. Repeating some material will help you and you already have enough on your plate with moving.

Get a good BC score and you can get some serious college credit!

And you know you could take both, right? It would be very doable. Stats would be a great compliment to BC.
