have you guys ever gotten like a B or a B- in a test in a class that's easier than AP calc (or something equally difficult); meaning, even though you're considered to be one of the best students and you even studied for the test have you ever gotten a result like that and were suprised? did you ever doubt your supposedly high intellect?

I've failed (as in F) several tests and were surprised by some and not surprised by others. I still managed to get A's in most of them a B in two others (my school doesn't have plus or minus, just the letter grade).

no.

10 chars.

Failed a few tests before... got below B's in a plethora of quizzes/pop quizzes/tests/examinations... got 2 B's as semester grades, both in non-AP classes of Honors level...

I've gotten some B's on tests, the only C's on tests I've gotten were either in AP Calc BC or Multivariable Calc.
But in below-AP classes not really... just freshman math I had a B+ average. Otherwise I've never gotten anything below an A average.
The only test I've ever FAILED as in F was the second test of the year last year in AP Calc BC. Fun times, those were.

uhmmm yep. Got straight B's through English in 10th and 11th grade. All four semesters, I went B-A-B (resulting in final semester grade of B), so that sucked. Thing about English exams is that you can't really prepare for it, and I somehow always get a B in the final exam for English when I most need to get an A for a final semester grade. ugh.

Thing is, I'm the kid that volunteers most in class, knows the book through and through, etc. and I consider English a strong subject of mine. My 10th grade teacher just happened to not like me (he crossed out my score on a really big paper when he saw that he gave me an A, went back and took off a few points, and gave me a B on purpose. WTH?). AP Lang 11th grade...well, I did blow off that class a bit, but I was quite surprised when I got B's on the final exams.

nope. 10 chars

Anyone who says "nope" to "have you EVER gotten a B on a test?" is flat-out lying. Even the smartest people don't get A's on absolutely everything.
Sorry.

Well, I'd say all my classes are at or above the level of AP calc. but, i've gotten B's on tests.. who hasn't?

Are all the kids who are replying Yale acceptees, or just kids who have applied? Just wondering for perspective's sake..

I've definitely gotten a lot of individual grades (tests, essays, etc) lower than an A, but mostly those are when I don't study or have trouble paying attention in class (last hour, monotone 70-min lecture, you get the picture). Usually if I don't understand the material, I work to get it, asking questions in class or if it's like uber hard AP Chem, coming after school. For me, B's are mostly in timed essays (I'm a pretty slow writer) :/

oh and I was accepted EA. I think I've seen most of the people on this thread on the '13 boards.

I applied to yale RD, but I was wondering, even if you guys failed a test, what did you end up with as your final grade- the grades yale saw? Sorry, don't mean impose on this thread...just a side question.

I ended up with a 4.0 uw.

I've failed tests in three classes that I can think of. I got a B in one and A's in the two others.

I've gotton a B on acouple tests before but nothing lower. The lowest semester grade that I've ever gotten is a 94.
