My question is simple: Can you apple for a scholarship before you are a senior? I'm going to be a junior in the fall and want to get in as many scholarships as I can. Some help would be awesome, thanks.

Absolutely! Most students don't start thinking about scholarships until the middle of their senior year. By then, it's too late! In fact, there are scholarships for 9th-12th grade students. Most of these are national scholarships and thus are much harder to win. Some of these scholarships, though, start at a local level (like the VFW Voice of Democracy Speech Contest: http://www.vfw.org/index.cfm?fa=cmty.leveld&did=150) so you could potentially win $50-$250 at a local or district level before the state and national competitions. However, there are a few scholarships for juniors that you might want to check out:

Discover Card Tribute Award Scholarship (http://www.discoverfinancial.com/community/index.shtml#scholarship)
Due: January 31, 2008
The application for this scholarship won't be available until December 2007, but you should bookmark it for later. There are $2,500 scholarships for state winners and $25,000 for national winners.

Executive Women International Scholarship Program (EWISP)
Due: January-March, 2008
This scholarship is available to students with a local EWI chapter. Check with your school to find out the nearest EWI chapter. High schools nominate one of their students to compete for the local scholarship. First winners from each participating chapter then compete for the $10,000 corporate scholarship.

Nordstrom Scholarship
Deadline: May 31, 2008
5-$10,000 scholarships available to juniors in WA and AK who will be entering their senior year this fall. Criteria include; 2.7+ GPA, substantial contributions to the community, involved in school activities and demonstrate financial need.

The first two are the only scholarships I know are for all juniors only. The Nordstrom Scholarship is limited to students in WA and AK, so that may or may not be much help to you. Regardless, start going through your FastWeb results for scholarships that start at the local level and work their way up to the national level. Also check with your career center for more information on local scholarships. That will be your most valuable resource for finding scholarships in your area.
