What are the usual ages/birth dates for 9th-12th grade
and would turning 15 early in September 9th grade considered being very old or held back?

9th 14-15
10th 15-16
11th 16-17
12th 17-18

No that’s not old at all. Usually those in ninth grade turn 15 between August of that year through July through the next year. Of course there are exceptions. You’re on the older end of that group but certainly not out of the normal range.

No, that’s really old. It wouldn’t be as old if you turned 15 toward the end of freshman year, but it is if you turned 15 at the very beginning… I turned 15 in December of sophomore year… (But I’m considered slightly young)

no thats very young
most people turn 15 freshman year

Where I live, most people turn 15 at the end of freshman year, during the fresh-soph summer, or in the very beginning of sophomore year.

EDIT: But there are quite a few that turned 15 at the beginning of freshman year. It’s not that common, but generally they’re considered really old.

for me
pretend this is a bell shaped curve

it starts at sep and ends at dec, with the most birthdates being near spring/summer

It’s on target.

No thats one of the oldest in the grade, but not held back old at all.

every school/district has their own age cutoffs.

We have several people in my grade who turned 18 at the end of junior year because their parents put them in late (they were near the cutoff). Turning 15 early in ninth grade is not unusual at all.

trust me you’re not very old. i know freshmen who turn sixteen right when summer starts, and they never got held back or anything.

Most of my friends turned 15 from august to January, with my own birthday being in February and a few of my friends in spring. 15 isn’t old. Depends on your school, but I honestly don’t think you’re too old for freshman year until you can drive.

9th - 14
summer 15
10th - 15
summer - 16
11th - 16
summer - 17
12th - 17
graduate high school - 17
summer - 18

I love that my birthday’s in the summer. I get to be younger AND smarter than everyone else in my grade.
Also, I’ll still be a minor when I graduate high school!

i turned 15 in jan. of my freshmen year. That’s not old at all. Most kids turned 15 between sept. and dec.
