Agh.

My interviewer emailed me yesterday and I emailed him back with convenient times, place, etc. Then today he sent another (generic) email as a "last call" for interviews, but he hasn't written me back about my interview and times and such. So I emailed again and he still hasn't said anything. Am I just worrying too much?

Did he give you a time frame for your convenient times? If so, may be waitinig until he hears from everyone to begin scheduling his appointments. What did your second email say?

Nope, he just said whenever you have time. In my second one I just said that I was emailing my info again since I had not heard back...

Nobody can say you're worrying too much especially when it comes to the stresses of college admissions. I can imagine that it's very unnerving waiting for a response, but maybe he's organizing times/dates before he makes any appointments.

Are you applying ED?

Thanks, acinva. Yep, ED. :) I thought he was waiting for all the times and stuff too at first, but then wouldn't he at least reply and say that? :( I don't want them to think I'm turning an interview...

Naturally you don't want the school to think you turned down an interview. Don't worry, if you did turn it down, the alum would report that to admissions, and since you didn't decline an interview, that won't happen. So you're good there.

It's pretty strange that he didn't give you any time frame for the interview, so it wouldn't be that hard to believe that he may be scatter-brained enough not to have his act together to reply to emails that he requested. lol.

Don't worry if you don't get the interview, many don't. You won't be hurt by that. It's just the frustration of the guy contacting you and not following through (at least not yet) that's upsetting and leaving you in limbo.

Try not to obsess over it. If he does get back to you (which he still may), great, if not, I wouldn't be that upset.

Best of luck to you.

I think the interviews have to be completed and reports have to filed in the next few days. It's near the end. I can look up the deadline later if people care.

Thanks Columbia2002, knowing the deadline would eliminate some unnecessary obsessing.

My interviewer said she needed to write her report and send it in by December 1.

Columbia2002, yes, if you could please look up the date when the interview comments/reports are due, we would appreciate it. Actually, my son's interviewer rescheduled his interview for 11/27. So, yes, please let us know. Thanks

Thanks again, acinva... Columbia2002, is the date by December 1? My interviewer said they need to be done within this week... But he still hasn't gotten back to me, blah.

From the monthly newsletter sent to the interviewers that I received on Nov 13:

We are now back in the office and immersed in the Early Decision reading process. The Early Decision interview season is also underway. Below are a few process reminders:

All interviews must be completed and reports submitted by Wednesday, November 22nd.

I always remember it being Dec 1st in the past. If they mail decisions on Dec 8th like last year, perhaps they moved it up.

Wow, thanks Columbia2002...

So perhaps decisions on December 1st?! Haha, just kidding.

Wouldnt that be actually worse?
I dunno haha

Depends how you look at it.. haha. I want to get it over with.

Ummm. So. Should I even bother contacting my interviewer again if they need to be done by this Wednesday?

Depends on how badly you want the interview. If you really want one you could send him one last email saying that you realize with the holidays almost here, time is running short for interviews for ED candidates, but you wanted to touch base with him one last time to let him know that you would be available for an interview any time that's convenient for him between blah, blah, blah.

Columbia2002?

Well, I'm not DYING for an interview... but I came home from school and I had an email waiting for me from a different interviewer... :D I guess he was just the head of our region and forwarded people's information out? Thanks a bunch, acinva!

Freddieisurhero, be careful what you wish for. LOL.

Best of luck to you!

This whole thing is weird. I don't know why the reports need to be in Wednesday (rather than Sunday, at least), given that they're not going to be in the office during the long weekend.

To all who haven't had their interviews, I think it's OK to be proactive and eager but don't take it to the point of being a total pain in the butt.

My son't interviewer said that his email from Columbia (I think the alumni association) said his report was due 12/1. Columbia admissions also told me that as long as the date has been approved by the alumni association, then it is ok if it is past 11/22. Maybe the students who applied later than others, are allowed later interview dates?
