Agora Roommate Search

I know that today is the last day to submit request for roommates through agora. But i was wondering how the college selects your roommate randomly… like do they pick the person that is most matched with your survey? and if fthere are a couple people that are matched the same percentage, do they assign you to the person at the top of the list? im confused. help would be appreciated :)

Pretty sure it’s random from your most compatible survey matches. From my experience, the key to having a good or bad roommate experience is how you act. Respectfully solve issues before they go on too long and be open to what your roommate has to say. Guys tend to have fewer issues than girls (in part because they are often more often and because they generally care less about typical roommate issues). The other thing to keep in mind is that the survey is not that relevant, you don’t really know the answers to those questions until you get to campus.

My roommate wasn’t my top person on the StarRez search thing, but he was definitely over 75% if I remember correctly. My situation ended up working out great and we’re good friends. I know some people had issues but as long as you are open and respectful of each other’s things then it will work out. And in the worst case scenario that it doesn’t you can always switch rooms (although if you get upper campus and you want to switch it will almost definitely be to Newton).
