I don't have the links and I never have. My older bro was accepted two years ago, almost a presidential scholar, and he went elsewhere. I was deferred EA. Given all of the above I think I will be rejected :( I'm in NY so I should hear today...

i want to believe the agora links are real and mean you're accepted, because when i click on the "if you have not paid enrollment" or whatever link, i can actually pay the deposit fee by credit card

agora didn't update for me - but i got in today.

i got the reslife link a week ago, though.

edit: it JUST changed.

I'm almost positive that if you have them you're in. If you don't have them, though, it does not mean rejection. It's much more difficult when coding to have rejected people receive accepted links than it is to allow accepted people to see the links and just not finish uploading the rest of the accepted students.

what does coding mean, annnthony? and how do these kinds of mistakes come about? like, can we be sure that if we have them, we're in?

i wouldn't be so paranoid if my mail was here already!

the agora website won't load for me now so i can't tell if i have the links or not! i wonder if they're updating stuff right now...

if you dont have them, assume your rejected/waitlisted

i didn't have it and i got waitlisted

Hmmm...

I haven't checked it in a while, but I noticed that my social security number was removed from my fin aid page. That was after my EA deferral. Any clues as to why this is?

No links...I'm probably rejected. I didn't get res life links a week ago either.

Coding, as in what makes Agora look like it does. They have databases which store all of our information, including whether or not we're accepted or rejected. It would be difficult to make an error that would allow rejected students to see accepted student information given the way you would code that situation.

To actually see the links though means that you've been checked off in their database as being accepted (so they can execute something in computer language that translates to "If database says student is accepted, display ___"). Some people (though clearly very few) were not able to see these links but found out via snail mail that they were accepted. This would probably be due to the fact that it takes awhile to designate a couple thousand people as accepted students, regardless of the way in which it's done, so they experience a delay as BC updates everybody's Agora account.

i don't have the link either, but wasn't expecting or hoping to be waitlisted/rejected!! for those of you who have gotten notice, are you all on the east coast? i'm in cal and i'm wondering if it won't come until tomorrow.... thanks

really good explanation, thanks! i didn't know they could do all that with their system

Ugh. I wish the college process was over, that every school was forced to announce decisions the same day, so you can start getting excited for your future school and not worry over this stuff.

hey, i called admissions, they said that agora portal has nothing to do with whether you've been accepted or not.

cheers -_-

I can't imagine they would give a student a link for sending in a deposit if they weren't accepted. That would be too cruel. On the other hand, I don't think that just because you don't have the link yet that it means you are rejected.

Sorry to burst any bubbles here, but admissions is going to say that, true or not....it sure looks like if there were no changes, you're either waitlisted or rejected. S had no agora changes and he just got his rejection letter. BC was not one of his first choices, but it is still disappointing since on paper, his stats were right on or exceeded their ranges, except for class rank (he's top 13%, not top 10%). Their letter was nice, though, as such things go.

Does anyone know what the requirements were of our new passwords when we first logged into Agora? I normally use the same password for everything but I can't figure out my Agora password for some reason...

I was accepted! I had the "res life" link a few weeks ago and my agora changed.

To cewolf1, I think the password needs to have a number on the inside of the letters. Also, BC seems to be lacking in the technology department. They update links too early and they are scared of posting decisions online because of errors (At least thats what they said on my visit)

I wouldn't be too sure to assume that the links mean addmissions. The other day on the northwestern website a bunch of kids got financial aid links that said congradulations and had info on finad but it turned out to be a glich in the system and a majority of the kids who saw the link ended up not getting in.

where does this stuff show up at on the website?
